Louisa Nickel-Copper Project
Location & Geology
The Company’s 100% owned Louisa project is situated in the King Leopold mobile belt of the southern Kimberley region of WA, in a geological setting broadly similar to the Fraser Range belt. Nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation occurs in a number of intrusions in the eastern Kimberley, including at the Savannah mine of Panoramic Resources Ltd. The King Leopold belt has received only limited past attention for this style of mineralisation despite hosting permissive intrusive rocks. Apollo notes recent nickel sulphide exploration progress at the Double Magic project of Buxton Resources Ltd (ASX-BUX), and exploration activity by adjoining companies that is now changing perceptions of this belt.
The Louisa property hosts similar intrusive rocks as at Double Magic, most of which have received no previous nickel-copper exploration.
Apollo received grant of licencing during 2016 and has designed a field program to validate a series of under-explored mafic-ultramafic intrusions and their potential to host magmatic nickel-copper deposits. It is currently working through planning and execution of heritage surveys, and field work would commence shortly after completion.
